Twine Designs for MaggieMoo's Summer of Fun

This month, MaggieMoo's Ice Cream and Treatery has launched their summer national promotion, entitled "MaggieMoo's Summer of Fun." Twine Design was once again hired to design original artwork for this nationwide celebration, including in-store point-of-purchase materials, national ad work, local store marketing initiatives, mail marketing and web graphics.

I have to admit that this is one of my favorite promos. The entire theme is a carnival. It's bright, colorful, and fun! I had the most fun designing Maggie in her carnival barker's outfit. The standee design was also a lot of fun to design. The hardest part was figuring out how high to place the face cutouts! I was able to get a copy of the finished product, and I used my young nephews as a test. It worked perfectly! (Whew...)

This is also an exciting milestone, as this marks a full year that NexCen Brands has chosen me, as a independent business, to design original art for MaggieMoo's national promotions. During 2006 and 2007, when I worked in-house for MaggieMoo's (and later NexCen, when the brand was purchased), I was responsible for most artwork for MaggieMoo's promotions. During 2008, I was transitioning into my new contracting business, while supporting NexCen on a number of other projects for all of their brands. In 2009, I was back in the saddle again with original artwork for MaggiMoo's promos!

While I'm very grateful for all of the business I've received from NexCen, I'm especially grateful for having the opportunity to graphically maintain the MaggieMoo's brand. It's such a fun, family-friendly brand, not to mention a product that I worship - ice cream! And, let's not forget Miss Maggie Moo herself -- my muse. I've so enjoyed illustrating her over the years, in different outfits and situations. She's an expert in reinvention - look out, Madonna! :)

I can't wait to see what's next! (probably something spooky...)

MaggieMoo's is debuting four new ice cream combinations throughout the summer. Please visit a treatery near you to try one!

Twine Designs for MaggieMoo's Moms, Dads and Grads

As summer approaches, it's once again time to show appreciation to Mom, Dad, and the graduating students in our lives. MaggieMoo's Ice Cream and Treatery has launched their seasonal ice cream cake promotion for moms, dads and grads, titled "Treat Them". Twine Design was selected to design the graphics for this year's theme. The graphics depict Maggie experiencing some favorite moments of a mom, dad and grad -- shopping, playing ball and grabbing a diploma on stage.

What's next for Maggie? More details coming soon...

Twine Designs for MaggieMoo's Ice Cream Pizza

This week, MaggieMoo's Ice Cream and Treatery launches their next national promotion, introducing their new line of ice cream pizzas, cutely named "Maggie Mia's Ice Cream Pizza." Twine Design was once again tapped to design original artwork for this nationwide promo, including in-store point-of-purchase materials, national ad work, local store marketing initiatives, mail marketing and web graphics.

I am proud to say that this is the fourth in-a-row national promotion for which NexCen Brands has chosen me (as a independent business) to design original art for the MaggieMoo's brand. The Maggie Mia promo starts on the heals of the ending Valentine's Day promo, "In the Moo'd", also designed by Twine Design. The other previous promotions featuring Twine Designs are 2009's Fall/Winter promo, "Party with Maggie", which includes artwork that MaggieMoo's plans to use year-round, and the 2009 summer promo.

The Maggie Mia graphical look continues with the fun, whimsical feel that MaggieMoo's continues to communicate for their brand. Chef Maggie Mia flips her pizza dough (though the "dough" in the product, of course, is ice cream), or shows off her big pizza box (depending on the piece) to introduce the new product. My inspiration for the look of these pieces came from some of the local "Ma and Pop" pizza parlors that I've visited over the years. I think my favorite piece is the stanchion sign, with the overarching traditional-looking awning.

As usual, designing for MaggieMoo's makes my mouth water, and these ice cream pizzas are no exception! Please visit a treatery near you to try one.

Twine Design 2.0!

I've decided to completely refresh my website. It's now powered by Squarespace, and so far I'm impressed with the functionality. I've never built a site completely in a browser, and I have to admit I'm getting hooked!

So, please take a look, and see what you think! I've added a new blog section, called "td news", which, of course, you're reading from right now. I'll be updating the site with news regarding some of my bigger projects. I've also updated my portfolio section with more recent work. I'll be adding and tweaking some other areas of the site over time, so check back soon for other updates!
